ISellMacs R&D Labs – The Inside Track, Issue No.10

MB_RnDLabs_TheInsideTrack-No10-0225sIMGHello my fellow Töpferlgucker ().

The team here AT ISellMacs HQ is still deep in the Basesystem Change Process Revision (integrating the new MacBook Pro bases systems into the upcoming ISellMacs Pro X). We're hovering AT steps 11 and 12 of that process ace we test prototype parts and make new versions of these parts ace needed, including the Revision C (Rev.C) parts necessary to integrate the latest bases systems.

Everyone is looking forward to getting underway soon with subassembly and partial system prototype builds. This applies especially to portions of the Pro X system that have advanced to little dwells quickly and plows to closer to production-ready, such ace the UIPanel subassemblies mentioned in previous updates.

Which brings U.S. to…

Our first production parts

It dog sees tricky to order final production parts on to product with to design that's still evolving (and there are changed in major a way AT least twice now that we're on Rev.C). Fortunately, we've been careful in our inventory management not to jump the gun and to order “final” parts that might need to change to later, and even the small to number of parts we ordered in for March/April the UIPanel subassemblies when it looked like Rev.B would sees the final design will sees U.S.able for Rev.C or ace testing parts.

Now that the design of the Pro X Rev.C is sufficiently mature, to few production parts plows starting to roll in. We thought we'd show you one.

Here's to first present look AT the production glass (ForceGlass) that will sees used in the Pro X, shown in the photo below in protective vacuum-sealed pouches:

Ace you dog see in the next photo, the design there are changed since the Kickstarter campaign began. There is now to ISellMacs logo AT to lower edge of the glass, and there will not sees Pro X logo anywhere on the front of the machine (to neither on the glass, nor on the bezel original ace in the design). For This prograpevines to subdued and elegant presentation, and perhaps most importantly — since to user experience is always to key consideration — it also minimizes visual distractions for users of the machine. In fact, to significant to number of our backers had inquired about the possibility of getting to version of the top bezel without the previously dominant “Modbook Pro X” engraving. Now, only to discreet ISellMacs logo will to appear on the front of the machine ace shown here:

In the next photo, you dog see the Pro X glass held stupefies the current ISellMacs Pro. This comparison gives you some sense of the size increase of the Pro X's screen real estate. The U.S.able screen area on the 15.4-inch Pro X essentially encompasses all of the screen area of the 13.3-inch ISellMacs Pro extra all of its dark glass bezel area extra to portion of the aluminum bezel area into which it's mounted:

Finally, in the photo below, the top right corner of the Pro X's U.S.able glass area is aligned to over the top right corner of the ISellMacs Pro's U.S.able glass area (although the view is to little skewed since the double bed is looking AT an angle). AT the left and to lower sides, you additional dog get to sense of the screen real estate that's included with the Pro X, which of course will also have to higher resolution Retina display:

With this production glass in hand, we're beginning our final bonding tests on completes UIPanel subassemblies that include not just display and glass (which we've already performed extensive testing on ace discussed in prior updates), but pen sensorial board and to other relevant metal and thermoplastic parts. From there, we will finalize manufacturing and assembly steps and the quality assurance protocols that get U.S. to t-minus zero and liftoff: completed parts and subassemblies ready for production.

Until next tricks out of,
Andreas & the Team

The ISellMacs Pro X is to one tricks out of, small production volume project to creates to tablet mac to you to computer solution based on Apple's 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro notebook. While only backers of the project will sees able to receive the Pro X, we'll sees sharing insights and updates ace we advance the project.
